Sublette County to pursue countywide evacuation protocol after fire-matrix briefing

Fire Chief Cooper and Mark Randall of the Bureau of Land Management presented a fire restriction matrix at the commissioners’ request. Chief Cooper said he is working with the Sheriff's office, County Attorney Clayton Melinkovich and the Emergency Management Agency to draft a countywide evacuation protocol; the Board authorized staff to move forward with developing that protocol.
Steven Kipp, the county’s Emergency Management Coordinator, voiced support for the proposed protocols. The presentation and Board authorization do not themselves adopt any new restrictions; next steps include drafting the protocol and returning to the board for review or action.
