Cemetery board halts use of trackless vehicle on upper hill after pavement damage

After reports of pavement damage and a stuck vehicle, Ludlow commissioners agreed unanimously Jan. 7 to stop using the trackless vehicle to access the top of the cemetery and to limit its use to the sluiceway area.
Penny Wu reported that crew members had been plowing and checking the spillway, but Chair Bob Brandt said an employee had driven the trackless to the top and gotten it stuck, causing pavement damage. Brandt said, “I don’t think they should go all the way up. They should only go as far as the sluiceway.”
Commissioners discussed who supervises Highway Department employees assigned to cemetery tasks and whether the town should restrict use of the trackless at the top of the hill. The board recorded a unanimous consensus to stop using the trackless to go up to the sluiceway area to avoid further pavement damage.
