Planning and Zoning staff presented a memorandum proposing changes to sign rules intended to support local businesses while preserving Ludlow’s traditional village aesthetic. Jarrod Jowdy said the proposal includes limitations such as a prohibition on internal illumination and other design choices aimed at a rural ski-town character.
Jarrod highlighted a sunset clause: "All new and Refreshed signs must comply with Article 5 Sec. 540 of the Ludlow Zoning Regulations." Commissioners discussed how the town will bring existing businesses into compliance when they need a new signage permit. Ryan Sylvestri asked how enforcement would work; the commission directed members to read the proposal ahead of the next meeting so they can make decisions and consider enforcement and outreach strategies. Commissioner Faiq Hashmi emphasized the importance of signage that captures motorists' attention.
