Board hears wastewater facility funding setback; Better Connections grant will fund downtown traffic study

Municipal staff briefed trustees that efforts to secure an $18 million grant for a new wastewater treatment facility were unsuccessful but that the town will pursue other funding sources.
Penny Wu reported: "We heard from Senator Sanders' office and we will not receive the $18,000,000 grant." She said the town will pursue alternative grants, including federal economic development funds for road access and building at the industrial park, and will seek letters of support from industrial and manufacturing stakeholders.
Separately, Wu said a Better Connections steering committee meeting is imminent and confirmed the grant will fund a traffic study focused on downtown parking, pedestrian access and transportation. Trustees discussed transit coordination, noting that MOOVER and THE BUS services do not currently overlap and that a bus stop in the village could improve access for workers without cars.
