Municipal Manager Penny Wu reported that the packet to pursue the town/village merger was hand-delivered to the Office of the Secretary of State by Logan Nicoll and that staff and committee chairs will work with legislative contacts in Montpelier to seek enactment for a hoped‑for implementation date of July 1, 2027.
Wu said officials will monitor the Legislature this session and, if the merger does not clear the docket this session, it will be carried to the next. "Logan Nicoll will run point at Montpelier to help work with the committee's chairs and make sure this gets to the proper committees," the minutes record. Trustees expressed optimism but recorded no formal legislative outcome; the item remains subject to state review and legislative approval.
The board also discussed forming a small steering committee for the USA 250th celebration and personnel‑related internal actions Wu said she will pursue, including updates to performance appraisals and the personnel handbook.
