Okemo outlines $6 million energy transition and reports record school program participation

Schmidt detailed a roughly $6,000,000 energy-efficiency and electrification project that will replace 500 snow guns, convert diesel air compressors to electric units and transition plaza snow melt systems from oil to propane heat pumps. He said the work should be completed by November 2026 and is expected to save more than 250,000 gallons of diesel fuel. "They will replace diesel air compressors with electric air compressors, saving over 250,000 gallons of diesel fuel," the minutes record.
Schmidt thanked the trustees for parking-lease support and applauded interagency support from police, fire and ambulance services. The board acknowledged Okemo’s investments and community partnerships; no formal board action was required on the update.
