The Board of Trustees approved a 3% increase to sewer rates for FY2027 during the May 5 meeting after staff presented an annual schedule of increases. Penny Wu and Diane Knight told trustees the increase would take effect July 1, 2027 and that last year’s increase was also 3%.
Trustee Justin Hyjek said he was not in favor given other increases in town costs; Chairman Bob Brandt and Trustee Julie Nicoll supported the motion. The motion to approve the 3% increase passed with two votes in favor and one abstention by Hyjek. Diane Knight said the increase for a 1-to-3-bedroom house would be about $5 and consumption charges for commercial units would increase by about $0.02.
