Commissioners approve $2.8M reimbursement for Washington Elementary; project two-thirds complete

Finance Officer Anita Radcliffe asked the board to approve reimbursement request #15 tied to the Washington Elementary School construction. The invoice from Wimco totals $2,798,610.53; Radcliffe said the state share of that invoice is $2,260,437.73 and the county share is $538,172.80 drawn from a $10 million transfer previously authorized. According to materials presented, the overall contract sum for the school is roughly $43.12 million within a $52 million project budget that includes contingency and furniture/fixture allowances; Radcliffe said the project is 66.7% complete and remains on schedule.

Commissioner Hood Richardson pressed for more detail on the larger $52 million budget and asked staff to provide a breakdown of the remaining funds; Radcliffe said furniture, fixtures and contingency were included in the budget and she expected the final cost to come in below the $52 million figure. The Board authorized the chair to sign the reimbursement form and to forward it to the State so the county could pay the vendor and move the project forward.
