Board approves $327,200 engineering contract to extend utility and roadway to industrial park

The Beaufort County Board of Commissioners on March 2 approved a qualifications-based contract with L.E. Wooten & Company to provide engineering services for infrastructure improvements at the Washington-Beaufort County Industrial Park. County staff said the engineering agreement covers roadway and utility extensions to open remaining lots in the park and will include design, permitting, construction administration and grant administration; the total engineering contract is $327,200 and will be paid from an Industrial Development Fund (IDF) grant and related sources.
Susan Squires, who presented the contract award, said the county used a Minnie Brooks Act qualifications-based selection process to identify the most-qualified firm. “It is the recommendation of our office that the Board approves the agreement and authorizes the county to execute the necessary documents,” she said. Commissioner Tandy Dunn moved to approve the contract and Commissioner Randy Walker seconded; the board voted to approve the award during the meeting.
