Playground grant hung on railroad right-of-way; committee weighs West Hill vs Dorsey Park for ice rink

Nick Miele said the town is waiting to receive a Right of Way document from the railroad, a document the National Park Service requested as part of grant application review and state compliance. Staff are developing the grant agreement while Cherry tracks down the railroad paperwork.
Committee members discussed ice-rink siting after a pre-meeting site visit to West Hill and Dorsey Park. Miele said West Hill could accommodate a larger rink and had hosted one previously, but funding may not be available to build it there. He noted Dorsey Park’s proximity to the village and the possibility of using ARPA funds for a rink at that location. Joe Gurdak raised parking-congestion concerns if a rink became popular; Frank Provance favored Dorsey, and Scott Baitz asked for a concessions plan if the rink were placed at Dorsey. Miele said staffing is limited and a volunteer may run concessions.
