County staff said Beta Engineering’s design estimate came in well over the prior $100,000 allocation, prompting the $250,000 request. Commissioners asked about whether the amount would be sufficient and whether necessary agreements with the community organization were in place. Staff said the county’s deputy manager is working on agreements and reiterated that requesting $250,000 does not guarantee the county will receive the full amount from the state.
A motion to approve the support letter carried on a roll-call vote. Staff noted the work can be phased and that design work can proceed on a smaller budget if full funding is not awarded.
