Taos County elects 2025 chair and vice chair, fills regional board seats

At its Jan. 7 meeting the Taos County Board of Commissioners elected its 2025 chair and vice chair and approved a series of appointments to regional and advisory boards, including the Enchanted Circle COG, economic development and workforce boards.
The Taos County Board of Commissioners opened its first regular meeting of 2025 by electing Commissioner Ronald Mascarenhas as chair and Commissioner Miguel Romero as vice chair for the year.
The actions came after nominations during the Jan. 7 session and were approved by roll-call vote. The board also assigned county representatives and alternates to several intergovernmental and advisory bodies, including the Enchanted Circle Council of Governments, the Taos County Economic Development Council, the North Central New Mexico Economic Development District, the North Central Regional Transit District, the Northern Area Workforce Board and the Cooperative Weed Management Area board. The clerk recorded affirmative votes for each appointment.
County staff and commissioners said the appointments aim to ensure Taos County has representation on regional planning and service bodies. Chair Mascarenhas opened the floor for nominations and the motions were seconded and carried during the meeting.
