Dr. Robert Treat presented a preliminary application (S-2026-14, Tax Map 33-50-50.00) to add a 3,000 sq.ft. addition to his existing veterinary hospital. Chris Ponessi of Mance engineering summarized the proposal and said the project will require expanding the local sewer district to include Treat’s parcel and two other parcels he owns.
Chair Tim Waker asked whether the project could use an 8-inch sewer main so neighboring properties could connect; Ponessi said he "will look into replacing the proposed 6" pipe with an 8" pipe and accounting for what the difference in cost may be." Robert Shortsleeve asked whether the clinic would change its services; Treat said he was "just expanding use and hiring more employees, however he will not be changing the use of the building." A staff member asked how many employees the applicant intends to add; the applicant said he planned on adding 3–4 full-time employees.
The discussion was a preliminary overview; the board did not take a final vote and continued the item to the April 1 meeting for a formal hearing. The board’s comments focused on sewer capacity and access for neighboring properties and on parking calculations tied to full-time staff counts.
