Chair David Michelson reviewed a revised, redline/clean copy of the Town’s lighting ordinance with the Commission, describing the rewrite’s purpose as simplifying language, increasing clarity, supporting safety and security, and promoting dark-sky compliance.
Commission members agreed that commercial development should require a lighting plan while most residential projects (except large-scale residential) would not. The minutes record that shielding requirements and limits on light trespass were clarified, maximum heights for freestanding and wall-mounted fixtures in Historic Downtown and Town Center districts were set, and that the language specified only warm-white LED fixtures would be allowed in those contexts. Staff were assigned minor editorial changes prior to sending the ordinance language to a public hearing; no hearing date was set in the meeting minutes.
