Brick Township officials highlight strong student-growth in NJDOE school performance report

Dr. Anderson, the district’s director of curriculum and instruction, presented the NJDOE school performance report for 2023–24 and said the district’s student-growth measures outpaced similar districts. "Our student growth continues to be strong. It's above the state average in both ELA and in math," she said, and later summarized the district’s nationwide ranking: "we outperformed 81% of districts like ours in math," with a cited learning-rate of "1.25, or a year and a quarter's worth of growth."
The report, Dr. Anderson said, includes participation and proficiency rates for NJSLA and DLM, demographic trends (rising enrollment, more economically disadvantaged students, more multilingual learners and students with disabilities) and school-climate metrics. She noted chronic absenteeism declined from 18.7% to 18.1% year over year, while graduation rates continue to exceed state averages. The presentation also referenced federal ESSA accountability submissions as the source of student-growth percentiles. Board members praised the presentation and asked staff to post the report and presentation on the district website.
