Community feedback makes pump track and woodland playground top design priorities at Purser Halsey Park

Designers showed imagery and placement options for a paved pump track and a woodland-themed playground that they said received strong community support in both online surveys and the public open house.
Charlie Reeb said the pump track was "heavily favorited" by respondents and that paving and proper siting would let Purser Halsey host more mountain-bike events. Emily Hsiao explained the pump track location was chosen to take advantage of existing drainage and grading and to sit between parking and the existing bike skills area to limit new land disturbance.
Hsiao and the team also described playground concepts emphasizing natural materials and tree preservation; the design intent, she said, is to weave the woodland theme across playground, amphitheater and shelter details while keeping most amenities clustered to minimize earthwork.
