Residents press Floyd County for answers on Solid Waste process and park naming during public comment

Susan Lockhart of Georgetown asked why there has been "no more discussion on Solid Waste" and said there were no bids posted on the county website; she warned that if the service is privatized a contractor might retain only profitable items and return other material to landfills. Dale Mann of Georgetown also questioned why the Misch family's donated property was named Bob Lane Park, saying "people in Georgetown do not know Bob Lane." Councilman Dale Bagshaw said he agreed with Mr. Mann and described the Redwire item verbiage as confusing, calling it a new project rather than a change order.
The board did not take additional action in response to the Solid Waste concern during the Sept. 2 meeting; commissioners encouraged residents to reach out to board members with questions and suggested staff follow up as needed.
