Middlesex supervisors acknowledge sheriff’s retirement; body camera rollout set after public notice

County Attorney Heather W. Lewis presented Resolution R-2026-003 to formally acknowledge the sheriff’s retirement and to direct the filing of required legal documents (petition and writ) with the Middlesex County Circuit Court to trigger a special election. The board adopted the resolution unanimously by roll call.
Major Sampson updated the board that the sheriff’s office body camera program implementation began in February but was paused to allow the required 21-day public notice period for the department’s policy; the program was reported to be expected to go live on March 11.
