Taos County planning staff says short-term rental applications available Oct. 21; online portal delayed

County planning staff updated the commission on preparations to implement the short-term rental ordinance. Andy Jones said the application packet, checklists for owner-occupied and non-owner-occupied permits, and a frequently asked questions document will be available on the planning landing page by October 21; hard copies will also be provided and staff will accept emailed submissions.
Jones said the county is working with vendor Granicus to create an online portal but that development has taken longer than expected and the portal may not be available until January; he warned that by then the initial permit allotment could be exhausted. He also noted that staff are still determining a secure process to verify eligibility for the affordable-housing exemption and that county attorneys have been consulted on interpretive issues.
