The Board of County Commissioners authorized Amendment No. 1 to contract TCC2021-11A1 with New Mexico Local Government Law LLC, adding about $100,000 (inclusive of gross receipts tax) to the county's legal-services budget for the remainder of the contract term.
County Manager Brent Jaramillo said the amendment is needed because "we're gonna run out of money before the end of the term of the contract" and pointed to recent appeals, assessor work and personnel matters that have increased legal spending. Commissioners discussed a future RFP for attorney services and directed staff to schedule a work study to review long-term legal representation options; the amendment was approved by roll call.
