Ludlow Water Commission report: springs produced more than town used in April; Thompson Avenue repair plan tabled

The Village of Ludlow Water Commission received its April operations report on May 12, with Ron Bixby reading details from the department memo prepared by Joe Guadiana. The springs produced an average of "453,000 gallons per day this April," while town use averaged 237,000 gallons per day, the report said. The department produced 13.6 million gallons in April compared with town usage of 6.5 million gallons.
Bixby said the department's sanitary survey "went well" but staff must make small repairs at the springs and the well site before the next scheduled survey in 2029. The report also noted routine maintenance: the department will flush fire hydrants May 5–7, crews replaced a leaky curb stop at 7 West Hill Road and continue weekly flushing of a backup well and a blow‑off on Deeplawn Court Extension. The department is scheduled to receive a Water Treatment Excellence Award on May 21.
Commissioners discussed a site problem on Thompson Avenue where crews "dug down" and removed a section of very dirty 4‑inch pipe. Ron Bixby said the commission did not yet have an updated action plan and moved to table the Thompson Avenue action plan until the June meeting; the motion passed unanimously. Municipal manager Penny Wu told the commission by email that she will circulate an updated Thompson Avenue plan before the June meeting.
