Residents press board on transparency, roads and debt; supervisor disputes travel allegation

Supervisor Hardy responded later in public comments to dispute the travel allegation: "we did not fly 1st class, during our last..." and said he did not submit an expense report for personal travel. Other residents raised alarm about county debt levels and debated whether borrowing $24 million for amenities such as a YMCA and amphitheater would be appropriate for a county of roughly 6,000 residents.
Commenters also sought clarification on tax rates shown in budget charts (personal property figures appeared as $4 in some materials and $3.75 in others), leading staff and the county attorney to note that budget materials would be reviewed and that audit notices had been posted extending completion to July 1, 2025. The board acknowledged the comments and thanked residents for their input.
