County engineer raises possible sale of landfill access parcel, reports quarry and bridge work

Thornburg said Parcel #540114100220 provides access required for adjoining property owners and is currently in need of maintenance; he stated his understanding that the parcel was never used for solid waste disposal and suggested the board could consider selling it if the Iowa Department of Natural Resources agrees to remove the DNR maintenance covenant (the covenant on adjacent Parcel #540114100200 would remain).
Thornburg also reported that crushing at the county quarry is underway, that work has begun on a stone abutment for the first bridge on Hawk Drive running north out of Farmington, and that a second round of coring for a potential rock quarry on county farm ground is tentatively scheduled for the first week of December (the record does not specify the year). The board directed Thornburg to speak with the DNR about the landfill parcel covenant.
