Discussion centered on project alternates, including a proposed aluminum pergola with wood privacy slats (Alternate #3) versus lower-cost patio umbrellas. Orth said the pergola would be expected to last 25 to 35 years and recommended prioritizing Alternates 1—3, while noting Alternates 4 and 5 were less critical. Operations Director Rob Tietz told the board the project budget had capacity to include alternates. The board agreed to revisit alternates at its August 4 meeting.
