Pawnee County OKs $10,000 NEPA desktop review to support BUILD grant application

The Pawnee County Board of Commissioners voted Feb. 2 to fund an approximately $10,000 preliminary NEPA/desktop environmental review by Kirkham Michael to support a BUILD grant application for roadway work on 90th Avenue.
Road and Bridge Director Kurt Demel told commissioners Kirkham Michael will prepare a partial preliminary design for 90th Avenue and a NEPA desktop review that can be attached to the county's BUILD grant application. "The $10,000 will come off the total cost of $85,000 for the remaining Preliminary Engineering study," Demel said. Commissioner Burdett moved to approve the expenditure; Commissioner Miller seconded, and the motion passed 3-0.
Commissioners discussed grant-match questions; Demel said if awarded, the required match may be covered by another entity but did not name that entity. The county recorded the motion as a formal approval to proceed with the desktop review; the full preliminary engineering study remains pending.
