Board to draft letter seeking change to school-board petition withdrawal rules

Vice President Curzio said the board should ask local legislators to fix the school-board petition process so that a candidate withdrawal does not reopen the nominating process and create last-minute confusion. "I would ask the board to send a letter... to our local legislators," Curzio said, asking that the board draft language following guidance from the Westchester-Putnam School Boards Association and bring it back for review. Trustees agreed to a board consensus to have Curzio draft the letter and to review it at the next meeting.
No formal vote was taken at the meeting; the board asked that the draft letter be circulated in advance so trustees could provide edits before it is finalized.
