After executive session, Watonga Board hires principals and directors for 2026–2027

The Watonga Board of Education entered executive session at 8:31 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2026, under 25 O.S. Section (B)(1) to discuss employment of personnel and returned to open session at 8:57 p.m. Vice President Dwight McGee read a compliance announcement noting attendance in executive session and that employment of personnel had been discussed with no votes taken in closed session.
After returning to open session the board moved and voted on individual employment motions. On motions made by Aaron Clewell (and seconded by Shawn Cox or Courtney Robison as recorded), the board approved the following hires for the 2026–2027 school year: Amber Wilson as Elementary School Principal; Ty Hussey as Middle School Principal; Lauren Coleman as High School Principal; Marcy Roof as Federal Programs Director; Darrel Merkey as IT Director; and Kirk Wilson as Athletic Director and Transportation Director. Each motion carried by a recorded vote of 4–0.
