The Radio Communications Committee recorded that Rensselaer County will deploy a new laptop-capable 911 system in the fall. According to the minutes, dispatch centers in East Greenbush and North Greenbush will be updated to the new system; Rensselaer city will not be updated.
Committee minutes also say the county plans to implement a software-based "EMD like" process for non-EMS calls beginning next year to assist with standardized call handling. The minutes do not include technical vendor names or cost estimates for the upgrade.
