Minutes from the May 27 Radio Communications Committee meeting state that the county’s 42-foot mobile command center (MCC) trailer is ready but a tow truck purchase necessary to move it has not yet been approved by the Legislature. Committee members were told that, when placed in service, the MCC may not be parked at incident scenes due to its size but will be located as close as practicable and will be capable of receiving 911 calls if needed.
The RACES organization provided equipment specifications for installation in the MCC but has not received a reply from the Bureau and it is unknown whether that equipment is covered under a state contract. The minutes record these logistical and procurement constraints without indicating an immediate timeline for resolution.
