At its July 1 meeting the Design Advisory Board approved multiple sign and exterior-change requests for downtown and commercial properties across Manchester Center.
Approvals recorded in the minutes include: - The Tutorial Center (114 Cemetery Avenue): 16" x 78" unlit wall sign (motion by Ray Nevin; seconded by Chris Conte; passed 4-0). - The Way of the Tea (4479 Main Street): 45" x 40" wall sign plus a small logo sign (motion by Chris Conte; seconded by Mary Shoener; passed 4-0). Applicant David Faltskog is opening a retail tea shop. - Camp Wine Bar (483 Depot Street): 36" circular wall sign with downward-facing lighting (motion by Mary Shoener; seconded by Chris Conte; passed 4-0). - Archstone Financial (208 Bonnet Street): 21" x 55" carved wooden freestanding sign with proposed marble posts (motion by Ray Nevin; seconded by Chris Conte; passed 4-0). - Maverick Construction (5515 Main Street): 58.5" x 39.5" metal freestanding sign on painted posts (motion by Chris Conte; seconded by Mary Shoener; passed 4-0). - Paul Shutte (210 Depot Street): 20" x 115" painted plywood sign and trim repaint to Sherwin-Williams Super White (6995) (motion by Chris Conte; seconded by Ray Nevin; passed 4-0). - Manchester Business Association (108 Wyman Lane): originally proposed at 96" x 41", reduced to 72" x 39.5" (19.8 sq ft) to meet downtown zoning limits; the board approved the modified size (motion by Ray Nevin; passed). - Aspen Hotel (5669 Main Street): after-the-fact permit for a 59" x 29" freestanding sign; applicant reported it was installed by an out-of-state contractor and plans to replace sign lighting with a downward-facing goose-neck fixture (motion by Chris Conte; seconded by Mary Shoener; passed 4-0).
Most approvals were routine and uncontroversial; the minutes record standard size, material and lighting conditions but do not list special conditional requirements or public objections for these items.
