The Town of Manchester Design Advisory Board on March 4 approved Gathered and Made LLC’s application to install a 96" x 24" wall-mounted sign (using existing lighting) and a 36" x 30" two-sided hanging blade sign with no new lighting. The applicant said the proposal “uses the existing store and replacing the signs as they have been in place with the prior tenant (Maple Reserve).”
Board member Ray Nevin asked whether the proposed signs’ white finish would appear brighter than the building; the applicant said both the building and signs are white, and Nevin suggested softening the paint color. The board discussed materials and cost—Nevin noted a carved wood sign could cost roughly 50% more and the applicant said a carved option is not in the current budget but would be considered later as the business matures. Member Mary Shoener confirmed no additional lighting was proposed.
Ray Nevin moved to approve the signs as presented; the motion was seconded and recorded by the transcript as carrying 5-0. The board did not require additional review of decal content for windows (staff noted decals may cover up to 25% of window area).
