The Selectboard voted to award a roof-repair contract for the historic County Courthouse to Battenkill Slate after reviewing two bids and hearing a restoration overview from the County Courthouse Committee.
Sarah McClintock and Tom Deck of the County Courthouse Committee described the committee's restoration plan, which includes roof work, foundation repairs, improved ADA access, new insulation and window restoration. Martha Heilemann explained the committee's fundraising and grant work and said the committee has obtained 501(c)(3) status to accept direct gifts. Jonathan West moved to award the bid to Battenkill Slate; Laurie Kunz seconded. The board approved the award (4 yes, 0 no) with Heidi Chamberlain recorded as abstaining.
Murphy noted that the Historic Preservation Division must approve the awarded contract before the town may engage the bidder. The board also reviewed a Third Party Agreement between the County Courthouse Committee and the town, with amended language to be returned for approval at a future meeting.
