The Board of Water Commissioners reviewed a draft request for proposals (RFP) for a systemwide upgrade to water meters prepared by board member Mark LaChac.
Scott Murphy, the Town Manager, outlined options for how the town could issue the RFP and recommended publishing the document now so vendors can provide information for board review at the next meeting. Eric Severance, the Superintendent, suggested the RFP include “a list of addresses and corresponding meter sizes” and noted the town typically replaces 20–30 radios per quarter, which factors into equipment and replacement planning.
The board discussed leak-detection approaches, leasing equipment, vendor presentations, and project duration (members recalled the last project took about two years). There was no formal authorization to spend capital during this meeting; the board asked staff to bring vendor information and cost estimates for future consideration.
