Fire chief reports increased response hours, training to meet state funding requirements

Fire Chief Troy Madland updated the board on department activity and training. He said the department has logged 231 hours to date this year compared with 126.5 hours at the same time last year; over the past month the department responded to six calls totaling 110 hours, including a large structure fire.
Chief Madland said state funding requires firefighter officers to participate in specified training. He reported six officers are scheduled to attend training beginning Feb. 16 in New Lisbon; class costs will be covered in part by state funds so that the department will meet the training requirements necessary for funding.
Chief Madland also raised a separate administrative issue about gas cards not working at the gas station; Clerk Klein will work with him to resolve the account problem. He requested future discussion about using Village Hall for 4‑H meetings.
