Board grants amended relocation COA for three historic houses after contentious debate

Board members and the public debated options including (a) tabling the COA for up to six months to allow the commission and CRA to identify relocation sites and funding, or (b) approving an amended COA that conditions relocation on feasible approved sites and permits demolition if no feasible relocation is approved prior to issuance of building permits. "The other option for you guys tonight is to table the relocation COA only," staff said, while also noting the development agreement’s timing constraints. After discussion the motion to approve the amended relocation COA passed 4–1, with at least one board member explicitly dissenting because of uncertainty about relocation feasibility and cost estimates.
