The City Council issued a welcoming-week proclamation asking residents to recognize and support new neighbors from Sept. 12–21. Council President Emily Bergey read the proclamation noting the community's commitment to inclusion and urging residents to celebrate newcomers.
Representatives from World Relief and the Chippewa Valley Museum described local programs: the museum's temporary exhibit on immigration and longstanding multicultural festivals that help connect residents. “We work really hard with the community not to be a welcome, to be a welcoming space for everyone,” a Chippewa Valley Museum representative said while summarizing exhibit themes and local programming.
Community volunteers and organizers spoke briefly about quilts, youth activities and rapid-response volunteer efforts for newly arrived neighbors. The council thanked the presenters and moved on to business.
