The Eau Claire City Council unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding that clarifies how Volume 1 and the Chippewa River Trolley may use Hoover Chapel at Lakeview Cemetery as part of seasonal tours.
A presenter for the city explained that the tours are themed around historic stories and include a stop at Hoover Chapel for a brief tour and storytelling. The draft MOU spells out expectations for access, decorations and removal schedules, responsibility for damages and fees to the city for chapel use. “They set up lights and decorations… they leave those in place when they're not physically there, and then they take them down after the tour season is over,” the presenter said while urging the council to approve the agreement.
Councilmember Johnson moved the item and Councilmember Brewster seconded; the clerk called the roll and the item passed by unanimous vote. Staff said the tours have been popular and that the MOU clarifies operations after multiple years of use as special events.
