Commission approves disposal and surplus of dozens of sheriff vehicles and county items
Summary
On the consent agenda the commission approved disposal requests for an extensive list of sheriff vehicles (multiple model years, asset numbers) and several Juvenile Detention Center surplus items. Most vehicles were slated for GovDeals auction or scrap after removal of emergency equipment.
The July 20 consent agenda included asset disposal and surplus forms from the Sheriff’s Office and other departments. The packet (attachments recorded in the minutes) lists more than 50 Sheriff’s Office vehicles — model years ranged from the early 2000s through 2015 — each accompanied by a "Change of Vehicle Status" form that records asset numbers, VINs and disposition plans (GovDeals auction or scrapping after removal of emergency equipment). The forms identify department contacts (Cassandra Olive) and note that county commission approval is required for disposal.
The Juvenile Detention Center filed multiple Scrap & Surplus Property forms for non-vehicle items (a Maytag washer, office desks, round tables, metal storage cabinets and benches). The consent agenda also included a notaries list and routine administrative attachments. The consent motion carried unanimously (12–0). The county record shows that staff will proceed with standard disposition procedures (auction or scrap) following commission approval.
