Lakeview opens first hearing on new water rates as residents raise water-quality concerns

At its Aug. 12 meeting the Town of Lakeview opened a first public hearing on proposed water rates under Council Resolution No. 1177, which the town manager read into the record as the council considered rates for Sept. 1, 2025–Aug. 31, 2030.
Town Manager Stan Foster read Resolution No. 1177 and recorded the first reading for the council. During public comment, Water Department staff and residents described operational and transparency concerns related to both rates and billing: Water Department official Dawn Lepori said transferring billing data to Springbrook produced "multiple errors" requiring manual corrections and added that staff will include explanatory notes on bills and offer personal consultations.
Resident Emma O'Brien directly criticized the proposal's timing and condition of the system, saying "the water is not clean," and urged greater transparency to correct misinformation in the community. The council did not take a final vote on rates at this session; the hearing and the first reading were entered into the record for further consideration.
