District staff recommended awarding the Bailiesville wastewater treatment plant replacement to the low bidder, per the architect/engineer recommendation. Staff reported two competitive bids: the apparent low bid at $855,000 and a second bid from Baird Contractors at $1,080,000. The staff presentation noted the project is a full replacement of the plant serving Bailiesville Elementary and Middle School and includes removal of the old plant as part of the work.
Board members asked how the project would be procured and where remaining bond funds would come from to cover costs slightly above the original estimate. Staff said overall bond projects remain approximately $237,602.88 under budget and that contingency and underspent projects can be reallocated within the facilities bond program. Staff asked for permission to award Dan Hill Construction per McKinley's recommendation; board discussion proceeded and the board approved moving forward with the award and directed staff to confirm the manufacturer/source of the prefabricated plant unit and finalize contract details.
