Fairhaven honors DPW laborer Marty Coy for 30 years of service

Mayor Josh Halpern opened the meeting by presenting a proclamation thanking Marty Coy for “3.5 decades of public service” and announcing his retirement from the Department of Public Works effective Aug. 1, 2026. The proclamation, read by Halpern, noted Coy was hired in January 1996 and highlighted his daily work maintaining roadways and his volunteer service with the local fire company, including a term as fire chief in 2003.
Marty Coy responded briefly at the podium and accepted congratulations from council and attendees. Halpern said Coy has been a familiar presence across town and wished him “a long, healthy, and happy retirement.” The council and members of the public offered applause and personal remarks recognizing Coy’s municipal and volunteer contributions.
