Several members and staff raised concerns about soliciting donations, use of the town seal, procurement rules and the short timeline. Gardner warned board members to be cautious about soliciting businesses and noted the town manager controls use of the town seal per the town charter. Staff explained that while the town can accept gifts, the board would need to vote to solicit donations on the town’s behalf and that procurement and payment mechanisms make a 10-day turnaround unlikely. The board agreed to postpone T-shirt fundraising, consider a Select Board table for visibility, and place the matter on a future agenda; one member offered a $1,000 donation when the details are clarified.
