Select Board appoints Carly Manion interim town accountant, effective Aug. 7

The Town of Danvers Select Board voted unanimously to appoint Carly Manion, the town’s assistant town accountant, as interim town accountant effective Aug. 7, 2026, at noon. The appointment will remain in place until a permanent town accountant begins work.

Town manager (speaker 5) told the board that the search for a permanent accountant is proceeding and said the town must have someone authorized to sign payroll and warrants in the interim. "We do need — we're required by National Law to have someone named as accountant to sign, warrants and payrolls and, things of the like," the town manager said. Manion introduced herself and said she has worked in Danvers for about five months and is prepared to step into the interim role.

Gardner moved the appointment and the motion was seconded; the board recorded the vote as four in favor, none opposed. The board directed staff to bring any longer-term staffing decisions back to the Select Board once the town’s search yields a permanent appointment. The assistant town accountant will work closely with existing finance staff to ensure continuity of payroll and accounts payable functions until the permanent hire begins.
