Council considered Resolution to award bid #2403 and authorize the town manager to execute a contract with Acadia Services for construction of the Catherine Branch trunk line Phase 2, not to exceed $4,343,301. Staff said the project is Greenfield, under the engineer's estimate, and has no existing utilities in the corridor, and that the town would rely on established inspection crews and prior contractor relationships. "This is a contractor we've worked with before. We've got, a very strong and good, inspection crew. I'll keep an eye on them and make sure they do their work," the staff member said.
Council discussed right-of-way and easement acquisition for the route, including use of condemnation for one remaining parcel, and then moved/seconded the award. The motion carried unanimously (5–0). The project will be funded by previously issued certificates of obligation and is expected to be constructed in phases, starting at the east end and moving west.
