Vernonia board approves staff contract extensions and affirms superintendent evaluation

The Vernonia School District Board unanimously approved two contract-extension resolutions for licensed and administrative staff on March 13, 2025. The board approved Licensed and Administrative Staff Contract Extension resolution #2025-02 and Licensed Staff Extension resolution #2025-03 following a motion by Greg Kintz and a second from Stacey Pelster.
The board also completed its annual evaluation of Superintendent Jim Helmen, approving the 2024-25 evaluation after a motion by Javoss McGuire and second by Amy Cieloha. Immediately afterward, the board voted to appoint Chair Susan Wagner to negotiate Superintendent Helmen's contract on the board's behalf; the appointment was moved by Stacey Pelster, seconded by Javoss McGuire and passed unanimously.
All recorded motions related to contracts and the evaluation passed unanimously. No roll-call vote tallies beyond "unanimous" were recorded in the public minutes.
