Veneta to contract ECO Northwest for Economic Opportunity Analysis funded by DLCD grant

Management Analyst Jacob Thode told the committee that the city is in the final stages of contracting with ECO Northwest for an Economic Opportunity Analysis (EOA) funded by a $40,000 Department of Land Conservation and Development grant.
Thode said the EOA will include a commercial and industrial buildable land inventory, a five-year strategic plan, a SWOT analysis and a retail market analysis, with a target timeline of 12 months (12–18 months possible). Staff also received funding for related housing and buildable land analyses and will coordinate these efforts through a single technical advisory group with representatives from the Planning Commission, Economic Development Committee and City Council.
"ECO Northwest's data-first, policy-focused approach and commitment to producing a strategic plan with clear, actionable, and measurable objectives will be useful to both committee and staff," Thode said. He said staff will return with more details on advisory group formation and meeting dates.
