Veneta secures $480,000 bike park grant; Lane County contributes over $5 million to Veneta–Elmira path

Community Development Director Kevin Urban told the Board the City has secured a $480,000 grant to help develop a bike skills park on Lot 400 and will work with the local mountain biking club Disciples of Dirt on the project. He also said staff plan to pursue a grant to update the city’s master park plan, noting the current plan is out of date given recent park developments.
Kevin Urban reported the City received a small University of Oregon grant to gather public input about Oak Island Park through tabling at the farmer's market and is in talks with the Corps of Engineers to designate areas as recreational to allow for mountain bike trails. City Administrator Matt Michel confirmed Lane County secured over $5,000,000 for the Veneta–Elmira multi-use path, which represents about half of the projected cost for that project.
