Veneta’s City Council voted unanimously to set a short‑term rental permit fee of $100 and a renewal fee of $75 through Resolution No. 1471. Associate Planner Daniel Findlay said the fees are intended to cover staff time for permit review and enforcement; renewals are lower because they generally require less staff time.
During the discussion Councilor David Voltz expressed concern the fee might discourage registration and reduce compliance, and Councilor Alexa Benson suggested a lower initial fee could improve registration rates and later be raised if needed. Council adopted Resolution No. 1471 by unanimous roll call (5‑0).
