Veneta’s City Council on Feb. 9 adopted Ordinance No. 597, removing short‑term rental regulations from the city’s Zoning and Development Code. Associate Planner Daniel Findlay told the council the change was recommended by the city attorney to keep regulation outside the development code and to avoid an additional avenue of appeal to the Land Use Board of Appeals.
Council President Pat Coy moved the second reading by title and Councilor Maureen Wright seconded; City Recorder Jennifer Mirabile called the roll and the motion passed unanimously (5‑0). The ordinance was read into the record by title only and then adopted. The action follows a prior Planning Commission recommendation and no written public comments during the commission hearing.
