The Leelanau County Board approved purchasing a 2026 Ford Police Interceptor for an amount of $50,000, with upfitting authorized up to $60,000 from the Motor Pool Fund.
Undersheriff Jim Kiessel and Lt. Todd Roush presented the request and explained fleet needs; Kiessel said fully outfitting the vehicle would require closer to $65,000 but the motion was amended to authorize purchases up to $60,000. The Board approved the motion 6–1; Commissioner Gwenne Allgaier voted no. The chair recorded the tally following discussion on timing and motor pool operations.
The motion language approved by the Board read in part: “That the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners purchase a 2026 Ford Police Interceptor for the amount of $50,000.00 up to $60,000.00 to come from the Motor Pool Fund.” The purchase and upfitting will come from the Motor Pool Fund; the sheriff’s office will coordinate outfitting and procurement timing with Finance.
